Privacy Policy

What we collect

We collect only what's needed to run the app:

• Account info — your name, email address, and password (stored as a secure hash, never in plain text).
• Trip data — trips, tasks, packing lists, expenses, polls, comments, and invitations you create.
• Device token — if you enable push notifications, we store a device identifier issued by Apple so we can deliver notifications to your device.

What we don't collect

• We do not collect your location. Location search in the app uses a third-party geocoding service but your GPS position is never sent to our servers.
• We do not use analytics, advertising SDKs, or third-party trackers.
• We do not collect health, financial, or biometric data.
• We do not track you across other apps or websites.

How we use your data

All data we collect is used solely for app functionality — creating and managing trips with your friends. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with advertisers or data brokers.

Data storage and security

Your data is stored on a secure server. Passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms. All communication between the app and our servers is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS.

Third-party services

• Apple Push Notification service (APNs) — used to deliver push notifications to your device.
• Resend — used to send transactional emails (invitations, password resets). Your email address is shared with Resend solely for email delivery.
• Mapbox / Nominatim — used for location search autocomplete. Only search queries are sent, not your GPS position.

Who can see your trips

Only people you've invited (via the trip invite link) can view or edit a trip. Trip data is private to your group.

Cookies

The web app uses a single session cookie to keep you logged in. The iOS app uses a secure token stored in your device's Keychain. No third-party tracking cookies are used.

Deleting your data

You can request deletion of your account and all associated data by emailing us. Upon request, we will delete your account, personal information, and remove you from any trips. Self-serve account deletion is on the roadmap.

Children's privacy

OutdoorsWithFriends is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app or by email.
